Galaxy Hair

I’m sure you’ve seen the Pinterest pins showing galaxy hair, mermaid hair, rainbow hair, etc. Well after eyeing it out for months, my husband talked me into trying it out and here’s how it went.

Finding someone I trusted enough to do this wasn’t that hard. Lindsey at Lavish Salon in Beach Haven, NJ is my girl and I knew she wouldn’t steer me wrong. We were both a little nervous about the whole thing because we had to go through the process of stripping my hair.IMG_0374

Not really being sure how well the color would strip out of my hair, I spent a lot of time under those awesome lamps. But it was February in Beach Haven,  it was freezing, so I was fine being a little toast.

Turns out my hair was just as excited as I was about change. With the brown color forever gone it was time to add color.

IMG_0376I wanted to do multiple colors. We went with a blue/green, magenta, and purple. The underneath we actually played with the idea of ombre and then on top we decided to go with full color from top to end. If you’re going for it, you may as well try different ideas right?

The color come out great. Now, it wasn’t pure “galaxy” because I didn’t do my entire head but I did it my way, what was fun for me and what I felt comfortable with. I definitely don’t regret it.IMG_0389

To make the color last as long as possible you have to shampoo with cold water and use a sulfate free shampoo. I did both of those things and color still came out each time I washed but, it’s now April and the color is just starting to fade.

I was surprised at how many people came up to me and have said that they want to do something similar but their employers won’t let them. It has definitely been a conversation started but I’m all about doing something different and seeing how it goes. What’s the worst that could happen?

Here are some pics of the color over the past couple months. Sometimes you see it, sometimes you don’t. Super fun.
