How to Prep for Beginning Keto

I don’t know about you but any time I get interested in something I research the TON out of it. I watch youtube videos, read articles, find books, and ask questions to every person I know that has information about the topic. So, I learn.

When I first heard about the ketogenic way of eating I did the exact same thing before I began. Now, a year later I made a video of the essentials to have on hand when beginning this lifestyle. It’s a very short list but it really is the basics as to what I needed and what I know has helped both me and the community of others that I’ve gone through the past year with.

So, when prepping to begin keto what are some MUST HAVES to have on hand and in your home?

  1. MACRO & Food Logging App // I recommend Carb Manager. Here’s a video on how to use it: How to Use the Carb Manager App
  2. Vitamins & Electrolyte Tablets
  3. Oils & Healthy Fats
  4. Exogenous Ketones // Only use the best! It’s an investment into your health & body. Here’s a link to my fave: Exogenous Ketones
  5. Fun Water Bottles

A Full Day of Eating Keto (vlog)

What do people who follow a ketogenic lifestyle actually eat all day? I had that question when I was researching and considering trying this for myself.

Since then, I’ve made multiple vlogs documenting normal days of eating keto. Sometimes I plan the day before what my meals will be, this was not one of those times.

Check out this day in my life where I ended up going out to lunch, forgot to do all the things I wanted to do, and still managed to end the day with near perfect macros!

Let It Snow VoxBox Unboxing

So not long ago I found out about this app called Influenster from a friend. You connect your social profiles and answer questions about different topics regarding products. You basically say whether you like it or not. Has a place to leave reviews. And has some sort of Ebates program (which I HAVE NOT figured out yet, nor tried to figure out).

If chosen, you get sent free products to rate, review, and keep! The best part to me, was that the items are FULL SIZE, not samples. I didn’t really think I would ever get chosen to receive a box, but I did! Getting that box in the mail was beyond exciting. Since I was extremely pumped, the boxes are rare, and I love playing on youtube, I thought I’d make an unboxing video.

I received 5 full size products, well really I received 3 and my doggy received 2. Receiving free gifts in the mail is so much fun and as I’ve learned “gifts” is one of my love languages, so yes, I get joy from it, #noshame.

Have you tried Influenster? Received a VoxBox? Do you think dry shampoo is as life changing as I do?

*all products in video were received complimentary for testing purposes.

Electrolytes, Water & The Keto Diet

Whether you’re new or old to the whole keto diet thing, you need to know about electrolytes.

What are they? Sodium, Potassium, & Magnesium

When eating a ketogenic diet it’s very possible to become dehydrated and to deplete your electrolytes. Signs your electrolytes are low: Headaches, Muscle Cramps, Fatigue, Nausea, Constipation.

You can also experience some of those symptoms when you aren’t drinking enough water. All those carbs you use to eat? They held water. So, while embarking on this lifestyle we want to make sure that you stay hydrated and keep those electrolyte levels up.

In this video I mention a few different ways you can do this:

  1. Electrolyte Tablets // https://amzn.to/2Bzsavm
  2. Foods You Consume
  3. Vitamin Supplements // https://amzn.to/2N7xYko

Most people do some type of mix of the above list, but it is possible to keep your levels in tact through food consumption only. You need to do what works for you and your body.
