January Ketone Experience

It’s time for a special ketone experience to kick off 2019! It’s been awhile since I’ve put together a special experience pack but what better time to launch one than the beginning of a new year?

This time last year I had no idea that how I was feeling could easily be altered. How was I feeling? I was feeling tired. All. The. Time. Seriously, I needed constant naps and was always fighting exhaustion. I was feeling heavy. I guess bloated would be a good way to describe it? Just heavy and lousy and not like myself. My clothes weren’t fitting the way I liked, my skin wasn’t doing that great, and overall I just wasn’t happy with how I felt.

Then I saw a Facebook post from my sister in law. She introduced me to ketones (a drink that supplies your body with ketones & puts you into ketosis) and a different lifestyle that I just gravitated towards. I did all the research. I watched all the videos. I read all the articles. I learned quickly and dove right in. Now a year later I can say I am SO glad that I did!

In addition to losing 40lbs (and KEEPING IT OFF!), the exhaustion has gone away. I don’t need that afternoon nap or the 5 cups of coffee. Don’t get me wrong I still love my coffee, but it doesn’t drive me anymore. I’ve kicked bad habits, created better cravings, and was able to buy new jeans.

The science behind exogenous ketones makes total sense to me. The science behind a ketogenic way of eating makes total sense to me. When I put them together it was like magic. Over 2018 I did not stay in a strict keto way of eating. I slowly added back in items  that I love, like pastas, potatoes, and pizza. Yet, I’ve been able to maintain because of a few things; altered eating habits, use of ketones & keto kreme, and periodic intermittent fasting.

So, yes, I want to share all of this with you because I’ve experienced it. I know it works. I know the changes are worth it. I’ve put together a special experience pack this month for those of you who are looking to try something new that could very well change your year like it did mine in 2018.

Can You Explain The Science In A Simple Way?

Yup! Watch the 4 minute video below.

Not an Afterthought

This was originally written by me for the Wellspring Church blog at wellspring.one posted on December 27, 2018.

I started a challenge in the beginning of 2018 to read the entire Bible in a year. I downloaded a helpful app, purchased a new notebook, and started a routine. Well, it’s December 2018 and let’s just say I’m beeeeeeeeehind. Do you know what you have to do when you try to read the entire Bible in a year? You have to actually read it, like all of it. The parts with all the old laws that I don’t understand and then when you get past all that and into the prophets, and battles, and kings, you hit rewind when you get to the book of first Chronicles. It’s literally a history of all the stuff you’ve just read! And, it begins with genealogies. Genealogies are the worst.

But, I’m a big girl with a goal, so I read it. I read all eight chapters of genealogies. It took me until chapter seven to realize the power in the list of names that I was reading. This book would have been read to Israelites after they returned to Jerusalem after being exiled. Who were they now? This book reminded them of their history. With each long list of names I struggled through reading, an Israelite would have heard their family name, would have recognized themselves as a part of God’s plan from the beginning.

I like to imagine that as each family name was read out loud the families in attendance would holler and clap like we do today when we hear our college alma mater or a musician shouts out “How you doin’ New Jersey?”. It probably didn’t happen like that, but hey, who knows?

They were able to connect their identities back to God. God had included them from the start. He had a plan for them. It’s powerful to be reminded that we were always a part of God’s plan.

“God had included them from the start. He had a plan for them.”

When you read the Bible or hear stories from it, do you hear your name? Are you able to see how God has included you from the beginning? Are you the tax collector who takes advantage of his position and robs the weak? Are you the woman or man caught in the act of cheating on your spouse? What about the person who has spent years attacking God and those who believe in him? Are you the person who grew up in a Christian home but when things got uncomfortable you denied even knowing Jesus? What about the person who sees the acts of God right in front of them but continues to doubt and question, are you that person?

These people we read about in our bibles were very real, but they are also very us. Jesus interacted with all kinds of people. Different races, gender, socioeconomic status, and marriage status because he is for ALL people. We, you and I, have been written into the very history of Jesus Christ. We are those people.

Do you know what Jesus did with those people? He showed himself to them, welcomed them in, forgave them, and then used them to build the church, change lives, and spread the message of true love around the world. He offers the very same thing to us.

“We are the movement of his Church. We are not an afterthought.”

Do you recognize yourself as part of God’s plan from the beginning? When questions arise in your mind about your purpose, your identity, your heritage, your history, your legacy, remember that God has already told us the answers. We are children of God, intentionally made and crafted. We are the movement of his Church. We are not an afterthought. We are a part of his family. We are a part of his plan and have been since the beginning. Embrace it, walk confidently because of it and the next time you read a genealogy in the Bible, remember, that’s your name too.

Best of 2018 // Keto Version

Who doesn’t love a great BEST OF video? Why not do it for those of us who spent 2018 living the ketogenic lifestyle and for those of us who are heading on to that journey in 2019!

This video includes all my “best of” including tools, supplements, workouts, etc. What were the best items for you this year? Do you have recipes that just knocked if out of the park for you? Share share share!

Let It Snow VoxBox Unboxing

So not long ago I found out about this app called Influenster from a friend. You connect your social profiles and answer questions about different topics regarding products. You basically say whether you like it or not. Has a place to leave reviews. And has some sort of Ebates program (which I HAVE NOT figured out yet, nor tried to figure out).

If chosen, you get sent free products to rate, review, and keep! The best part to me, was that the items are FULL SIZE, not samples. I didn’t really think I would ever get chosen to receive a box, but I did! Getting that box in the mail was beyond exciting. Since I was extremely pumped, the boxes are rare, and I love playing on youtube, I thought I’d make an unboxing video.

I received 5 full size products, well really I received 3 and my doggy received 2. Receiving free gifts in the mail is so much fun and as I’ve learned “gifts” is one of my love languages, so yes, I get joy from it, #noshame.

Have you tried Influenster? Received a VoxBox? Do you think dry shampoo is as life changing as I do?

*all products in video were received complimentary for testing purposes.

Crispy Chicken Thigh Recipe

Ever since I was a kid I absolutely loved friend chicken. Something about the crisp with the chicken was just amazing. Fast forward to adulthood where I’ve learned how fried food can be the worst for you 🙂

So, here’s a recipe for Crispy Baked Chicken Thighs, no breading included. This recipe is super easy and is ketogenic and low carb friendly! Bonus, my kids loved them & my husband even took cold leftovers to work and enjoyed them!

Recipe

  • 10 Chicken Thighs, skin on & bone-in
  • 4 TB Olive Oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Garlic Powder
  • 21 Seasoning Salute, Trader Joe’s (Italian Seasoning Optional)
  • Cayenne Pepper, optional (not shown in video)

Preheat Oven to 400 degrees F. Pat the chicken dry with paper towels, and on a lined cooking tray coat them with olive oil, skin side up. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, & additional seasonings. Place in oven for about 60 minutes, longer if you like the skin very crispy and the chicken more well done.

Serve with sautéed veggies, mashed cauliflower, zucchini noodles, and more! Use whatever you have in the house and enjoy a simple and easy dinner night at home.
